On a warm Thursday evening, more than 30 founders, marketers, designers, technologists, and curious builders gathered at Modern Moment Studio for the inaugural edition of The Current State. The theme was Spark—those moments of curiosity, connection, insight, and inspiration that set something bigger in motion.
You can usually tell who's going to win by who is still asking questions when everyone else starts answering. Curiosity is rarely treated like a strategy. It looks too soft. Too unfocused. Too unscalable. But it keeps showing up in the same places success eventually shows up.
You notice it first in the calendar. A Tuesday that used to be empty now has three calls you didn't really schedule. People replying to something you said weeks ago, a project that started as a favor, a name you mentioned once that somehow turned into a thread.
Walk through any airport bookstore and you'll notice something curious. The shelves are full. The audience isn't. Twenty years ago, many of those books would have been written for everyone. Today, the covers seem to whisper to increasingly specific people.
